The African American Democrats of Montgomery County (AADMC), support and endorse Marc Elrich for Montgomery County Executive. He has the courage to champion a multitude of issues that work for the greater good of the Montgomery County community, such as ensuring that all public school students are provided a high-quality education. Marc has been a consistent voice on fair and affordable housing opportunities at a time when prices continue to rise and many working families are priced out of the county. He has also expressed a commitment to addressing persistent economic disparities in public contracting.
As a past educator, he has a strong connection with the children of this county and their development into young adults. Marc states, “I taught public school in the county for 17 years and helping students succeed is very important to me. I want to embark on a comprehensive ‘inside/outside’ strategy that builds both stronger communities and stronger schools.” He has seen how the gap affects children’s lives first hand; he has steadily worked to improve what is holding them back, which is economic inequality. During his time on county council, he pushed to change the minimum wage bar to $15/hour. As county executive, he wants to focus specifically on bringing a racial equality lens to Montgomery County. He is working with over 20 other progressive organizations, and now AADMC is one of them.
